Camp Timberlane for Boys

  • We are looking for a mature, responsible, and organized person to direct our Rock Climbing program. This is our 2nd most populated program, where campers learn how to rock climb, how to set up and run belaying systems as well as safely use and maintain all climbing equipment.
  • Our huge 70' tall climbing tower is the tallest of its kind in the country, with three different sides, including one natural rock face, and is ideal for both new and experienced climbers. We also have a brand new bouldering gym with over 1,000 sq ft of simulated rock face, also a challenge for climbers of any skill level.
  • You must have strong skills in anchor setting, belay techniques, and climbing equipment care. In addition to teaching climbing, you will also be a cabin counselor, which involves living and working alongside 2 other counselors with a cabin group of 8 - 12 campers.

Birch Trail Camp

Position Available: Climbing Instructors
Salary Range: $1700-2400 (DOE) and room & board
  • Climbing is one of the most popular activities in camp. Almost every camper in camp will spend time climbing or rappelling on our three-sided, 65 foot outdoor climbing tower and practicing in our bouldering area. In addition, campers and climbing instructors have the opportunity to participate in 3-day rock climbing trips led by a certified outfitter.
  • Work as part of a team to manage all safety aspects of the climbing program; supervise and train other staff on belaying techniques; instruct campers on climbing skills; and provide encouragement and support to campers while they climb.
  • We are looking for fun, enthusiastic applicants who understand the value and challenge in learning how to climb. All applicants should have an interest in working with children and experience climbing on walls and in the outdoors. Ideal applicants will have experience in lead climbing, setting up top rope climbs, and wall set-up and safety. We can help train you in any of these areas if they are new to you.

Birch Trail Camp

Position Available: Wilderness Trip Leaders
Salary Range: $2100-2600 (DOE) and room & board
  • All Birch Trail campers go on 3-8 day camping trips in the upper-Midwest and Canada. Trip Leaders organize and guide basic camping, backpacking, flat-water and white-water canoeing, sea kayaking, horseback riding, and rock climbing trips depending on their skills and experiences.
  • Applicants should have experience and interest in camping and working with children. As a leader on trips, Trip Leaders should be level-headed, responsible, safety-minded, and fun. All applicants must be at least 21 years old, hold a current driver's license, and have a good driving record.
  • We provide extensive training at camp in outdoor, camping, and counseling skills. We offer opportunities to earn certifications, including LGT and WFR.
