Description: Our Internship position is designed to provide students an opportunity to apply and explore knowledge, skills and attitudes developed during their academic experience. It is also aimed at helping students make a smooth transition from the classroom into full-time employment. We serve youth from kindergarten through high school; generally serving 25-60 students at a time. Our programs have heavy emphasis on adventure, teambuilding, and hands on social studies curriculum.
Responsibilities: Interns work closely with the camp Directors and staff to run a wide range of adventure, environmental, and experiential education activities. A partial list includes: rock climbing, high/low ropes course elements, teambuilding, canoeing, backpacking, animal /geology /tree / water studies. In addition to regular programming, work in other areas of camp operation is also required. The Sheridan School Mountain Campus serves private and public schools from all over the DC/MD/VA area. It's located on the Western slopes of Shenandoah National Park on a 130 acre campus. Instructors are responsible for running a wide range of adventure, environmental, and experiential activities. Average work week runs fairly non-stop from Monday mid-morning to Friday early-afternoon, including a couple evening programs. Usually one weekend a month. May & September being incredibly busy. Must be 21 years of age or older. Previous experience working with youth and outdoor/adventure ed. experience. Solid judgment. CPR and First Aid or WFA (WFR strongly preferred). Degree in related field. Be of quality character and clean background. Able to work within a close community of instructors.

Forest Lake Camp is a private, residential summer camp located in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, about 10 minutes from Lake George, NY. Forest Lake Camp has been in operation since 1926. We are a brother/sister camp on 411 acres with our own private, spring-fed lake. All of the counselors at Danbee work in a dual role - both as a bunk counselor living in a bunk with kids, and as a specialty counselor teaching in a specific program area.

Skill and Events Coordinators primary role is to train and supervise the skill leads in teaching their particular skill and in running evening events. Each coordinator will be given a cluster of Skill Leads. It is their responsibility to train and provide supervision to those skill leads, insuring that the skill is taught at the level we expect for NorthBay. The coordinator will make sure that their skill leads have all the tools necessary to lead their skill and will order any needed items through the summer camp manager. They will also organize all the fields trips that take place for various skills.
In the evening the Skill and Events Coordinator will organize their staff to run various non-skill related events. These events include, but are not limited to All Camp Welcome, Obstacle course, All Camp Game Day, and County Fair.
